For over two centuries, the Apaches terrorized the state of Chihuahua and neighboring Sonora. Visit some of their strongholds and battle sites.
The Mormons established 8 settlements beginning in 1885. Most were abandoned at the time of the Revolution, but Colonia Dublan and Colonia Juarez still remain where descendants of the original settlers live.
The first Mennonites arrived from Canada in 1920 and now dominate agriculture in the state. They are famous throughout Mexico for the cheese they produce.
Ancient Paquimé Indians lived in what is now Casas Grandes, Chihuahua. Today you can tour the remnants of their ancient dwellings and visit one of the best museums of indigenous culture in Mexico.
